There is NO reason why raising the debt ceiling can’t have spending caps. In fact, if we made a single $100 billion cut across the board, we could balance the budget in four years.
But that would require Republicans and Democrats to give up their sacred cows.
Republicans would have to give up the sacred cow that says, “We will never touch a dollar that goes to the military.” And Democrats would have to give up the sacred cow that says, “We will never touch a dollar in welfare spending.”

In the midst of all this, friend, President Biden seems to think we can raise the debt ceiling without negotiating. To that, I say: you will absolutely have to negotiate with conservatives, and you better start now.
