Hi John,
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is closing the public comment period for an important proposed rule that will cut methane and other harmful pollutants from oil and gas operations across the U.S.
It’s a big step forward, but we need the EPA to go even further so we can hit our climate goals. This is your last chance to weigh in on this proposed rule, so don’t miss your chance to take action against methane, the gas responsible for over 25% of warming we experience today!
If we want stronger protections for climate and clean air, we need to raise our voices now. Submit a public comment to EPA Administrator Regan before tonight’s deadline! [link removed]
Methane has more than 80 times the warming power of CO2 for the first 20 years it is in the atmosphere. Unlike other greenhouse gasses, methane traps in heat immediately. Which accelerates warming and pushes us closer to climate risks like wildfires and extreme weather. Scientists across the board agree, addressing methane pollution is one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to slow global warming.
That’s why we need EPA to build on their proposal and adopt the strongest possible safeguards that curb harmful emissions from the oil and gas sector. By reducing wasteful practices — like venting and flaring — and cutting down on leaks from storage tanks we can stay on track to cut climate pollution in half by 2030. But we need your help.
Send a message to the EPA before the window closes and demand bold action on methane pollution! [link removed]
