[1]Bowman for Congress

John:

The Federal Election Commission — the independent agency that enforces
campaign finance law in U.S. federal races like ours — just announced that
the individual contribution limit for federal elections is now $6,600 per
election cycle, a huge $1,000 increase from last election.

Meanwhile, the FEC doesn't explicitly regulate political spending by
corporations. Many of them donate MILLIONS each year to support
establishment candidates who will continue to uphold the status quo.

The truth is, money matters in congressional races. In 2022 a whopping 96%
of U.S. House races were won by the candidate who spent more.

Listen. We don't know that we'll ever outspend corporations and candidates
backed by corporate PACs — and Jamaal won't depend on them for this
campaign. But what we do know is that the only way to keep our progressive
power is through the grassroots — $3, $5, even $15 at a time. [ [link removed] ]So will
you please chip in $3 or whatever you're able to give to our

John, Jamaal
doesn't accept a single penny from corporate PACs, because he knows that
those aren't the voices we need to prioritize in Washington. We're proud
to be powered by supporters like you, chipping in when they can to power
this movement to dismantle systemic racism and build a multi-racial
democracy.

Campaigns like ours aren't just built overnight, and they definitely
aren't sustained without effort, either. The challenge has only grown.
2009 was the last time the federal minimum wage was raised — to $7.25 an
hour. In that time, the FEC election cycle limit has grown by $1,800. That
means grassroots-powered movements like ours have to do even more to keep
up.

Our movement requires consistent, reliable support — even when an
election's further away. Because when it comes to meeting people's needs
and movement building, there's no such thing as an “off-year”.

We don't depend on corporate PACs and our average donation is way, way
lower than $6,600. That's because we depend on folks like you.

[ [link removed] ]Chip in $3 — or whatever you're able — to our campaign and help us
sustain our movement so we can keep fighting the status quo.

In solidarity,

Team Bowman
