John, this year will be a critical one to taking major strides in environmental justice work.
Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), $60 billion in federal spending has been allocated towards advancing environmental justice efforts. This is the single-largest investment ever focused on closing the gap between racial and socioeconomic disparities in infrastructure and climate resilience.
This progress is long overdue. Low-income communities, and particularly communities of color, have long been overburdened by hazardous air and water pollution from power plants, waste sites, ports and freeways, and numerous other sources of pollution. And often these communities are the most vulnerable to the threats of climate change. But we know Speaker McCarthy is planning to block these funds to fulfill his climate-denying agenda, and we need to raise our calls to action to block out his noise. Will you add your name to call on the House to protect the environmental justice achievements we’ve made and pass even stronger policies this Congress? [[link removed]]

everyone,

Ultimately, every person in the United States should have the right to clean air, clean water, and an environment that enriches life. Tackling this environmental justice agenda will do just that. Now, our biggest barrier to getting positive legislation like the Environmental Justice for All Act passed in this Congress is Speaker McCarthy. Add your name to call on the House to ensure environmental justice policies are on the 118th Congress’ agenda. [[link removed]]

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
