Hoot and Holler for Superb Owl Sunday
While the rest of the nation Eagle-ly awaits the big game, Audubon sees today a little differently. By moving just one letter, today becomes Superb Owl Sunday—our favorite unofficial bird holiday.

When it comes to birds, owls are big attention-getters, with their huge eyes, razor-sharp beak, and powerful feet with piercing talons. These beloved raptors are known for their impressive hoots, of course, but their language consists of a multitude of sounds.

If you haven’t started celebrating Superb Owl Sunday, get your game face on with this handy guide to 5 North American owl species and their most common calls. We promise you won’t fumble your next owl ID.
Hoot, hoot, hike!
