I just wrapped up our campaign’s first rally in beautiful downtown Burbank, and all I can say is WOW. Just wow.

Just take a look:

I wanted to kick off this campaign for U.S. Senate where I began my first campaign for Congress. At the local IATSE 80 union hall, because workers and labor have always had my back, and I’ll always have theirs.

Over one thousand strong in Burbank on an early and chilly Saturday morning.

It shows our campaign’s early momentum. Especially on the heels of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s endorsement, and 20 other California Members of Congress.

Here’s why I’m running.

Right now, millions of middle-class families are falling through the cracks, working class families are only a health crisis or car problem away from catastrophe, parents are taking on multiple jobs and still only barely able to keep a roof over their heads … sometimes unable to do even that.

The reality in many parts of our state and country is that the economy is simply not working for millions of working people.

Too many people are working multiple jobs, but cannot pay the rent, afford groceries or pay for lifesaving medication.

Too many others are spending hours commuting to work, because they can’t afford to live close to their jobs.

Too many parents are unable to afford childcare.

Too many children are growing up in poverty, or hungry.

Too many. Far too many.

We need to build an economy that works for everyone. Not just the big corporations or billionaires.

So that everyone can provide for their family, and enjoy the American dream. The California dream.

This is why I’m running for U.S. Senate.

To build an economy that works for everyone. A democracy that will last for all time. And a planet that doesn’t melt beneath our feet.
