John,
From the moment I first launched my campaign for Congress in 2016, I have never wavered in my belief in our grassroots movement. I know what else I believe in: dark money and outsized spending should not buy our elections.
I don’t believe that our politics and policies should be bought, so I won’t be either. I have never accepted a single cent from corporate PACs or dark money groups, and I never will. And I know it only makes our movement stronger, because true people power wins — that’s why we’ve started this new session of Congress with more progressives than ever before.
It is important that we start strong, John, because this moment in time matters.
Republicans have regained control of the House, and have already started executing their extreme partisan agenda by singling out progressives, targeting critical policy, and holding our economy hostage. Our progressive coalition is taking a stand, but we have to make sure our own campaigns stay strong while we fight the GOP on multiple fronts.
That’s why I’m writing to you now with a personal request. I am not here to guilt trip you. There is no imaginary donor who will triple match your donation, and the sky is not falling. Just you and me, and my sincere hope that you will recognize the importance of this moment.
At the end of the day, every election I’ve won, every fundraising goal I’ve hit, every milestone I’ve worked with our Progressive Caucus to achieve — it all comes down to you.
Thank you for your steadfast support.
Pramila
