John, did you see this?

After years of advocacy and hard work, a Commonwealth Court judge ruled in favor of a school funding lawsuit and declared our discriminatory school funding system unconstitutional.
Pennsylvania has long neglected to provide adequate and equitable funding for public schools in areas with low property values, leaving students and teachers without the resources they need to succeed.
Here at the New Pennsylvania Project, we celebrate this landmark decision and its potential to end decades of funding discrimination, particularly against the historically disenfranchised and neglected communities we center.
But the fight for fair and equitable school funding is not over yet, John. The court left fixing this to the Pennsylvania State Legislature. Can you pitch in $10 today to help us expand the electorate and elect leaders who will stand up for fair education funding?
DONATE NOW
This decision is certainly a huge victory worth celebrating. But we must not simply sit around. Even with the Democrats confirming their majority in Pennsylvania’s state House, progress may still be subject to the whims of the Republican-controlled state Senate.
Whether they respond by blatantly ignoring the court order or through simply taking the smallest steps possible, true progress will likely take flipping the state Senate, once again bringing us back to the ballot box.
As with so many other issues, the key to a better Commonwealth lies in expanding the electorate to include Black, Indigenous, immigrants, other people of color and the youth to achieve a more reflective democracy.
We have already made monumental progress. Will you donate $10 right now to help us keep up the year-round voter engagement it’s going to take to expand the electorate and flip the state Senate?
