Toni Atkins sent Senate Bill 50 to the Rules Committee, which she controls, in hopes of moving it THIS WEEK to the senate floor for a vote. We must stop this Draconian bill which ends single-family zoning and rewards developers to destroy existing housing in 400 California cities.

HOT NEWS: Crowd of 200 at South L.A. Town Hall Opposes SB 50!
A crowd of 200 at the South Los Angeles Town Hall to Oppose SB 50 on Saturday heard from a lineup of top L.A. elected leaders and candidates, all slamming the hated gentrification bill that would hand key planning decisions in 400 cities directly into the hands of developers. Livable California co-sponsored this event.
State Sen. Holly Mitchell, Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz, L.A. City Council candidate Grace Woo, and L.A. County Board of Supervisors candidate Jan Perry all opposed SB 50. An aide to powerful L.A. City Council President Herb Wesson slammed the bill authored by "trickle-down" economics proponent, state Sen. Scott Wiener.
Respected community leader and former LA City Councilwoman Jan Perry attacked SB 50 as decimating historic black South L.A., saying with disgust, “People who stayed here, and built equity here? You don’t punish them!” Weiner would end single-family zoning, transforming much of South LA — and thousands of single-family communities statewide — into market-rate fourplexes too small to house families.
