Hey John,
Last week alone, I talked with three different friends who *always* vote. I was surprised to learn these proud, savvy voters didn’t know there was a primary election for State Supreme Court on Feb. 21. It wasn’t even on their radar.
Yikes. I am concerned this might be common. So, we need to do some work over the next two weeks. Here’s what I’m asking you to do: -
Make your plan to vote. You can find voter resources here.
- Remind 10 friends to vote on Feb 21. You can send them this link.
-
Text voters: Chip in $8 to reach 100 voters by text. Or $80. Or $800. Whatever you can do will help. And sign up to volunteer for one of our text banking nights next week. Sign up for Wednesday, Feb. 15 or Thursday, February 16. We’re going to try to text more than 15,000 voters between now and the primary–but we need your help to do it.
Remember, the State Supreme Court is a nonpartisan election. That means the top two vote-getters on Feb. 21 – regardless of political affiliation! – will advance to the April 4 general election.
There are four candidates in this race. Everett Mitchell and Janet Protasiewicz are both highly qualified, pro-conservation and pro-democracy candidates. Jennifer Dorow and Daniel Kelly are both right-wing extremist candidates – bought and paid for by out-of-state billionaires who want to undermine our elections and let corporate polluters off the hook.
The nightmare scenario is that BOTH right-wing candidates could advance to the April election, locking out a pro-conservation candidate from even getting on the ballot in the April general election.
Don’t let that happen. Get out there and vote! And tell your friends! |
