John,
Today I want to talk about something that wasn’t in the national headlines, but was an urgent emergency for my team and our community a few weeks ago.
Over the past month, massive floods overwhelmed parts of my district. Thousands of families evacuated from their homes. Our largest school districts were closed and major roadways were underwater.

I spoke to a mom whose house flooded five times. She was separated from her kids because they couldn’t find a place big enough to stay together during the flooding. Thousands of families have stories like this.
But the story doesn’t end there. After I toured the damage I learned something shocking - my community in San Joaquin County had not been included in FEMA assistance!
My team and I were livid. We jumped into action, got on the phones and within 24 hours we convinced FEMA to add San Joaquin County to their assistance list.
I share this story because this is what every single representative should be doing: rolling up their sleeves, listening to what’s needed and then fighting for their districts. Unfortunately there are now multiple extremists who believe removing Adam Schiff from the Intelligence Committee or investigating conspiracy theories is their job description. And it’s a real shame.
I hope you take some time to investigate what your representative is spending their time on. It will illustrate what, and who, they are prioritizing.
And to those who are still recovering from these floods, please do visit FEMA’s website to learn more about assistance to help you rebuild.
- Josh
