Team —
Last week on the floor of the United States Congress, I called on the CEO of Central Hudson to step down.
I stood up to give voice to my constituents who have been screwed over and ripped off by our utility company. I stood for the farmer in Ulster Park who received a utility bill so massive — $16,585, which was 17 times her normal amount — that she actually contemplated suicide. I stood for the single mother in Kingston who told me she’s afraid to cook for her four kids because turning on the stove means facing a gigantic gas bill. I stood for senior citizens on a fixed income who had their checking accounts wiped out by autopay.
I could tell hundreds more of these stories and not begin to scratch the surface of Central Hudson’s disastrous failures. Folks in the Hudson Valley are sick and tired of the mismanagement and chaos coming out of Central Hudson. From egregious billing errors to systemic failures, New Yorkers simply deserve better.
Central Hudson has had opportunity after opportunity to own their mistakes and take accountability. But time and again, they’ve failed to do so.
If any employee acted this way in a workplace, they would no longer have a job — and Central Hudson’s CEO should be treated no differently.
We need a new leader who will improve service, finally fix these systemic problems, and start the critical work to rebuild trust. That is what we all deserve.
Join me in calling for the CEO of Central Hudson’s resignation today. [[link removed]]
