Hello friends,
From attending events in Delaware and committee work in Washington to joining President Biden for the State of the Union Address and celebrating my 61st birthday – it’s been an eventful week in the 118th Congress. Below are highlights:
Delaware Update
I joined the Richard Allen Coalition for its 7th Annual Gala where I was honored with an award for our work in securing $100,000 in Community Project Funding for renovations and enhancements to preserve the historic Richard Allen School in Georgetown. I was joined by members of the Delaware General Assembly who not only matched the investment but provided $1 million to the project. This bipartisan effort will ensure we share not only our state’s history but strengthen our local communities. The theme of the night was very fitting — “Proud Legacy, Promising Future.”

The State of the Union is Strong
On Tuesday, I had the privilege of witnessing President Joe Biden deliver a historic State of the Union Address. As the President said in his speech, there’s nothing we can’t do when we do it together. I join President Biden’s call to work together to deliver for the American people – to secure the future of our middle class, fight to protect our fundamental rights and freedoms, and protect our democracy, which serves as the foundation of all of our work. For my part, I’ll continue my efforts to secure our supply chains and bring good-paying manufacturing jobs back to America. Let's finish the job.

Committee Work
In our Energy, Climate, and Grid Security Subcommittee Hearing, I spoke about the remarkable gains we’ve made since the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, in our goal of combatting the climate crisis. Unfortunately, the bills proposed by my Republican colleagues catered to oil and gas interests and would put us on the wrong path. I’ll continue opposing any efforts to impede the progress we made to fight the climate crisis and extreme weather.
During our Health Subcommittee Hearing about the federal response to COVID-19, I focused on workforce shortages, data, supply chain vulnerabilities, and the lasting impact of Long COVID that’s affecting Americans’ health and ability to work. You can watch my full remarks below or click here.
