Honoring Norco's Hero

Today, we upheld our commitment to never forget Norco’s hero by dedicating the Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui Memorial Post Office. Thank you to everyone who attended the dedication.

Here is a portion of the remarks I delivered at today's event:

"The Kabul Airport is 7,683 miles from Norco, California. Lance Corporal Nikoui couldn’t be much further from his home. Yet, the values of duty, honor, and sacrifice, that were ingrained in him by this community, his family, and the United States Marine Corps were on full display up until his last breath in this world. 

As I mentioned earlier, we can never repay the Nikoui family for the sacrifice they have made. Our community has stood alongside them, shed tears with them, and comforted them.

Today, we take another step with the Nikoui family by upholding our pledge to never forget. By dedicating the Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui Memorial Post Office, we enshrine that commitment for generations to come. 

Years from now, a young boy or girl will come here and ask their parents about Lance Corporal Kareem Nikoui. And even though many days may pass between this moment and that one, I have no doubt they too will be inspired and in awe by the story of Norco’s hero – Kareem Nikoui."
