keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The January NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the January edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories and happenings from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. We kicked off the year strong in Northeast Wisconsin, opening up new businesses and gathering together to celebrate as a community. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, Redesigning Dairy: This month I joined the BC Organics team at their first-of-its-kind commercial biorefinery. With 16 digester tanks, they will accept more than 900,000 gallons of manure from 11 multi-generational local dairy farms daily. Located in Greenleaf, BC Organics provides project participants with the ability to protect natural resources by reducing potential greenhouse gas emissions and decreasing the volume of manure to be land applied. Supporting Project SEARCH: I also had the opportunity to tour a Project SEARCH participant at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Project SEARCH is a national 9-12 month business-led program where students with disabilities are fully immersed in a workplace. These students spend time in the classroom and in on-the-job training, and at the end of the program, the business and a state agency work to place the student in a long-term job. Learning about LiveX: I also toured LiveX in Green Bay and learned more about their incredible operation from their founder. LiveX produces cutting-edge production and live streaming across the country and is based right here in Green Bay. Thanks for having me! Putting Metal to Work: I also toured Fox Valley Metal Tech in Green Bay, which specializes in metal fabrications for both commercial and defense projects. While I was there, I met with members of their team and toured their new 75,000 square foot addition. Opening up Shop: This month, aesthetician April Vosters celebrated the opening of her brand new spa, Platinum Aesthetics, in downtown Kimberly. A member of my staff was able to attend the grand opening and learn more about the business. Congratulations, April! Cultivating the Agriculture Community: A member of my team was able to attend the annual meeting of the Calumet County Ag Stewardship Alliance. They shared important information on conservation practices like reducing the risk of nutrients from entering waterways. Celebrating our Veterans: A member of my team also enjoyed meeting with the Oconto County area veterans to share an update on the work I'm doing in Washington and in Northeast Wisconsin. Thanks to the Oconto County Veteran Service Officer for helping make this event happen every month.
