It’s important that we reach out to you today.

For the people of Northwest Syria, the next few days are going to be critical. Facing cold nights, they need a safe place to sleep, winterization items like sleeping bags, and clean water to survive.

Mercy Corps team members are providing essentials right now, and we’re connecting with local suppliers to continue this support in the days, weeks, and months ahead.

Even before the war in Ukraine disrupted the global food supply, food security was deteriorating in Northwest Syria. This crisis compounds an already challenging situation, and after a decade of conflict, Syrians tell us they are worried of being forgotten once again in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Our world is interconnected. When we come together, we can make an extraordinary impact. That’s why we’ll continue to work in 40+ countries worldwide, to help people cope today, adapt tomorrow, and thrive into the future.

Thank you so much for your compassion and generosity,

The Mercy Corps team

EARTHQUAKE EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Urgent need for shelter, clean water, and cold weather supplies.

Sarmada, Syria. Rescue workers search through the rubble of a large building that was damaged by the massive earthquake that struck the region on February 6, 2023.
As you read this, search and rescue operations are continuing across Northwest Syria, where Monday’s 7.8 magnitude earthquake and subsequent aftershocks have caused widespread devastation.

As emergency responders race against time and freezing weather to find people who are trapped in the rubble, Mercy Corps teams are mobilizing to help meet critical needs for those who have been displaced.

Mercy Corps has been working in Syria since 2008. We currently have 45 team members in the region of Northwest Syria, and prior to the earthquake we were already reaching about 300,000 people in this region through our ongoing humanitarian work.

Now, in the wake of Monday’s disaster, we are resuming our emergency WASH (Water, sanitation, and hygiene) activities in 98 displacement camps, with a focus on providing clean drinking water and septic tank maintenance. We’re also working with a local partner to distribute essential supplies and shelter for families whose homes were destroyed by the earthquake.

Please, your generous contribution today can help fuel our lifesaving humanitarian response in 40+ countries around the globe. Please send your urgent gift now.
