Dear JOHN,

On Tuesday evening, I was honored to be in the House Chamber to receive President Biden’s State of the Union Address. In his remarks, the President outlined a bold agenda that reflects our shared democratic values, and I look forward to continuing our work on behalf of families in our community.

We know that families in our community and across America are struggling, and they’re counting on us to provide support during these challenging times. That’s why I’ve been working to deliver on the issues that matter most—particularly our successful efforts to lower prescription drug costs, bolster healthcare services for veterans, and strengthen the future of our manufacturing economy.

As we look toward the future, I hope to build upon this progress and continue working to lower costs, improve quality of life, and ensure every American has the ability to not only survive, but thrive. Combatting the Horrific Malpractice of Fertility Fraud

The fertility industry is severely underregulated, and this lack of oversight has led to abhorrent and unethical practices that have inflicted severe trauma on too many families—including many here in Rochester. Now that these crimes have come to light, it’s critical that we act swiftly to update our federal laws and ensure victims receive the justice they deserve.

On Thursday, I was proud to announce my co-sponsorship of the bipartisan Protecting Families from Fertility Fraud Act, legislation which will help provide recourse for families impacted by fertility fraud and establish the crime as a federal offense. On behalf of the many families impacted in our community and beyond, I’m proud to take action to protect others from falling victim to this horrific malpractice.

I’m deeply grateful for their partnership as we work to make higher education more accessible and ensure students have the tools they need to thrive—in school and beyond.

On Wednesday, I was honored to meet with leaders from the University of Rochester, the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the University at Buffalo to discuss our community’s ongoing commitment to expanding educational opportunities, especially for STEM and skilled workers. I look forward to our continued work together to strengthen the future of our workforce and our regional economy.

Praying for Türikye

This week, we saw a devastating series of earthquakes impact Türkiye, Syria, and the surrounding region. My heart is with the friends, family, and loved ones of all those impacted. Please join me in keeping everyone affected by this tragedy in your prayers.
