Friend, in order to win the speakership, Kevin McCarthy caved to his party and agreed to balance the federal budget within the decade.

But here's the thing:  

While he claims that cuts are "off the table," it is nearly impossible to balance the budget without making MAJOR cuts to Social Security, Medicare and other vital services.  

Friend, Kevin McCarthy and the GOP pose a serious threat to the livelihoods of the 66 MILLION Americans who receive Social Security checks every month – and it's up to progressive senators like Ben Ray Luján to stop this plan from becoming a reality. 

Sen. Ben Ray Luján has a proven track record of defending Social Security. In addition to being a fierce opponent of Trump's permanent payroll tax plan (which would leave Social Security bankrupt by 2023), he also co-sponsored the Social Security 2100 Act, which would protect and expand Social Security to ensure that future generations would be able to benefit from this program.
