The state of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s wardrobe choices.

To be clear, we’re definitely not pro-heckling the President of the United States during the State of the Union. That said, the call-and-response bit Joe had going on was lowkey better than most recent episodes of RHOM. His crowd work? 10/10. Stand-up comedians, take note.

Also, Republicans, you have to realize that you came off looking ridiculous right? None of you coordinated on the dress code ([link removed]) , the game plan, or your opinions of Social Security. You left Kevin McCarthy sitting behind Joe like a cardboard cutout trying not to scream into the abyss. It was hysterical, but also not great for our country. A classic vibe these days.

Despite the rude interruptions by the cult followers (sorry, Republicans), Joey powered through like a champ and delivered a solid State of the Union. From highlighting the accomplishments of legislation like the CHIPS and Science Act to calling for an extension on the Medicare Trust Fund, Joe was in his prime. He was Lizzo performing at the Grammys. Messi in the World Cup. Florence Pugh in any movie ever. He was Joe f*cking Biden. And as he made very, very clear over and over again, he’s going to finish the job he started with the Inflation Reduction Act, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and so many other accomplishments. (Hard launch of the campaign slogan? Probably.)

So congrats on entering your baddie era, Joey. You slayed and we’re all very proud of you.

Here are some other highlights from DFP this week:

Joe? After all this time? Always.

We’ve come a long way since Uncle Joe’s inauguration more than two years ago. Low-rise jeans came back. The UK had four Prime Ministers (we’re including the head of lettuce ([link removed]) ). Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles hooked up, ate a salad with what we can only assume was Michelin star dressing ([link removed]'s%20it.) , and then promptly broke up.

Meanwhile, (Dark Brandon) Joe Biden and the Democrats have been hustling to pass crucial legislation and get the Republicans to agree on common sense policies in between their QAnon meetings. And in new polling ([link removed]) , DFP finds that bills like the Inflation Reduction Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act are still incredibly popular among voters across party lines.

We absolutely love it when popularity crosses party lines. Like c’mon, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is such a sick act, with all of its cool and hot investments in infrastructure projects. Why gatekeep it? Data for Progress finds ([link removed]) over three-quarters of voters (76%) support the bill, including Democrats by a +87-point margin, Independents by a +66-point margin, and Republicans by a +32-point margin.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act isn’t a one-hit wonder. Voters are into other pieces of legislation too. The Inflation Reduction Act is supported by 68% of voters and the CHIPS and Science Act is supported by 85% of voters. So they’re pretty, pretty popular. Take note, Republicans. Our legislation is climbing the social ladder and you should hop on board.

We can’t make this up: Insurers are taking advantage of Medicare Advantage.

It’s a scheme that’s truly hiding in plain sight. In a “there’s always money in the banana stand ([link removed]) ” moment, insurers have been profiteering off the Medicare Advantage program. Except, the advantage wasn’t for our society's vulnerable seniors, but for insurance companies. Classic.

Medicare Advantage is an alternative to traditional Medicare that comes with additional benefits, such as gym membership, vision, and dental coverage. However, insurance companies involved with the program have been exaggerating their patient’s medical history in order to overcharge the federal government. What an odd, Disney villain move to steal money from the government by taking advantage of senior citizens.

With over 28 million people enrolled in Medicare Advantage, the U.S. government was overcharged between $12 to $25 billion dollars in fiscal year 2020. Can you imagine if that money had gone to something like, we don’t know, building affordable housing, traditional Medicare, or literally anything else besides lining the pockets for monolith insurance companies? A concept. Understandably, 75% of voters ([link removed]) are concerned about Medicare Advantage insurers profiteering from the program. This includes 75% of Democrats, 73% of Independents, and 76% of Republicans.

In order to fix the problem and ensure that the government doesn’t accidentally overpay insurance companies by billions of dollars again, the Biden Administration announced that it will more aggressively audit Medicare Advantage plans. Based. Not to mention, eighty percent of voters support a more accurate scoring model to avoid overpayments, including 80% of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans alike (side note: what a numerically satisfying poll).
