As the days pass and loved ones wait anxiously, search and rescue efforts continue in northern Syria and southern Turkey. Latest reports show that the total death count from the two large earthquakes and more than 1,200 aftershocks that struck both countries has officially surpassed 18,000 people, and countless more are injured.

Ensuring that children are safe and secure is UNICEF's top priority. In the days and weeks immediately after a crisis, the rapid distribution of emergency supplies is critical. UNICEF supply hubs across the globe are prioritizing packing and sending lifesaving supplies, like first aid kits to treat wounds and injuries.

UNICEF is uniquely equipped to respond swiftly when emergencies occur and mere seconds can save children’s lives. When a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti in 2021, UNICEF immediately responded and sent over 9.7 metric tons of medical, water and hygiene supplies via cargo airplanes. The urgent appeal to mobilize after the earthquake in Haiti was vital in saving as many lives as possible for weeks and months to come.

For over 75 years, UNICEF has delivered for kids in over 190 countries and territories around the world, whenever and wherever the need is greatest. Children are counting on you to help scale up relief, supply delivery and urgent support in Syria and Turkey —
