Research and Evaluation on the Administration of Justice: Advancing Access to Justice 60 Years after Gideon [ [link removed] ]

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to support rigorous research and evaluation projects examining the impact of court and other criminal justice tools, practices and policies on the administration of justice and public safety in state, local and tribal jurisdictions.

With the 60th anniversary of "Gideon v. Wainwright", 372 U.S. 335 (1963), and in collaboration with DOJ?s Office for Access to Justice, NIJ?s research priority under this solicitation in FY2023 is public defense or indigent defense services and equitable access to justice.

Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each with its own deadline:


* Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov [ [link removed] ].
*Grants.gov, Deadline*:* April 26, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET*
* Submit the full application, including attachments, in JustGrants [ [link removed] ].
*Application JustGrants, Deadline: May 10, 2023, at 8:59 p.m. ET*

Applicants must register with Grants.gov [ [link removed] ] and JustGrants [ [link removed] ] prior to submitting an application.

This solicitation is competitive; therefore, NIJ staff cannot have individual conversations with prospective applicants. * Curriculum Vitae/Resumes for Key Personnel (For purposes of this solicitation, ?key personnel? means the principal investigator and any co-principal investigators.)
