Dear John,
Earlier this month, I co-sponsored a resolution to affirm the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. Will you join me in supporting the Equal Rights Amendment?

The Constitution does not state anything about time limits for constitutional amendments — simply that the amendment must be ratified by three-fourths of states and be passed by a two-thirds majority in both the House and the Senate, which the Equal Rights Amendment has done.
The Equal Rights Amendment is a vital step towards making women’s equality part of our Constitution, bringing America another step closer to our principles of liberty and justice for all.
I’m committed to fighting for equal treatment, protections, and rights for all. It’s time we affirm women’s equality, enshrine the principle of women’s equality, and prohibit discrimination based on sex in our Constitution.
Will you join me in calling on my colleagues in Congress to affirm the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment?

Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
