Hi John,
A key Congressional leader, Senator Bob Menendez, just sent the Biden administration a letter [[link removed]] urging them to act immediately to allow humanitarian parole for Iranians -- a move strongly supported by NIAC. Why is that important and what is humanitarian parole?
Let us explain:
Humanitarian parole would grant eligible individuals temporary admission to the United States without a formal visa requirement.

This action could offer safe haven for those who are at risk and otherwise ineligible for a visa by providing them with an opportunity to seek asylum and safety.

It would also send a powerful message of solidarity for Iranian protestors and their cause.

This action would significantly ease the process for Iranians to come to the United States amid the Iranian government’s brutal crackdown on the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Iran.
NIAC has led calls [[link removed]] for expedited visa processing for Iranians seeking safety, and enthusiastically supports the potential expansion of humanitarian parole to Iranians to cut through red tape and diminish risks of deportation. Read our full statement here [[link removed]] and know that we will continue to support support policies that help Iranians in their brave fight for freedom.
