Have lots of fun over February half-term

We want our children and young people to have the very best opportunities in life, and that includes being able to enjoy fun activities during the school holidays.

That’s why we’re once again subsidising fun family activities during the school holidays, to help those struggling with the Cost-of-Living crisis.

We’re also issuing food vouchers worth £15 per child, to households in receipt of free school meals.

Visit our website to find out more about our fantastic holiday offer. ([link removed])

Avian Flu in Alexandra Park

The Government has confirmed Avian flu has killed several birds in Alexandra Park.

To stop the spread, the boating lake has been closed to all activity. As a precaution do not feed any birds and keep dogs on leads near the water.

If you see any dead or sick birds, please inform park staff.

Are you concerned about a young person?

Signs of potential sexual abuse or grooming can come in many forms including unhealthy or inappropriate sexual behaviour, being frightened of some people, places or situations and a person having money for things they can't or won't explain.

If you’re worried about a child that might be at risk of sexual abuse, please speak to independent charity ‘Keeping Our Girls Safe’.

They support young people to make positive choices and teach them about unhealthy relationships.

They’re available to listen, without judgement and to help, so speak to them today on 07491 068364 and get their expert advice on protecting young people.

Last chance to get your booster

This weekend marks the last time people aged 16 to 49 will have the opportunity to access the Covid-19 booster jab, if you haven’t already done so.

The NHS recently announced Sunday 12 February as the last day people can attend a vaccination site for a booster dose.

The vaccine is vital in protecting ourselves against severe illness, even if we have caught Covid before.

To book your vaccination, please visit the NHS website. ([link removed])
New scheme to make streets around schools safer

We're looking to introduce measures to make the roads around a number of our primary schools in Oldham safer and healthier as part of the School Streets initiative.

School Streets aim to reduce air pollution, congestion, problem parking and to enable pupils to walk, cycle or scoot to school instead of jumping in the car.

We’ve secured funding of almost £85,000 from Transport for Greater Manchester and the Department for Transport to pay for the introduction of the schemes.

Visit our website to see how the scheme will work, ([link removed])

If you don't have an accepted photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document, which is known as a Voter Authority Certificate here ([link removed])

You can learn more about accepted photo ID forms, how to apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate, and what to expect on polling day at the Voter ID website ([link removed])
