Hi team,
I have an astronomic update from Washington. I was just named the ranking Democrat on the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics! This is a key posting within the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
As the top Democrat on this subcommittee, I'll be helping direct our policy on all things related to space research and development -- including overseeing NASA! 🚀
I'm humbled that my peers trusted me for this leadership role. One area I'm eager to work on is bolstering our nation’s satellites system to improve our forecasts and severe weather models. As an expert in meteorology, it's hard to overstate just how *critical* satellite data is in combating climate change and preparing for extreme weather events.
I can’t wait to get started, and before you ask: YES! Working on our country’s space exploration policy is an absolute dream come true. You're the reason I'm here, team, and it's my hope we can continue our partnership as we work to protect our planet. That means winning my re-election campaign in 2024 so I keep at it for the long haul!
