IPS Training Opportunities
Dear colleagues,
We hope you are having a nice start to the year.
We are excited to share with you our new branding, along with some IPS news updates from Centre for Mental Health.
We have some great IPS training opportunities over the coming months, including our flagship Doing What Works training course for new Employment Specialists, plus courses in how to develop your employer engagement skills, helping people with their motivation, and how to develop skills as a Team Leader.

News
* Centre for Mental Health will continue to be the provider of IPS training for new staff joining IPS services in drug & alcohol treatment, funded by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities. New staff can follow this link ([link removed]) to see which training courses are available to them.
* We are excited to announce that we have secured funding from Health Education England to run a further 8 cohorts our Team Leader Training Programme for Mental Health Supervisors or Senior Employment Specialists in secondary care. Click here ([link removed]) for details of how to apply. The training will take place over the next 3 years.
* We continue to work in partnership with IPS Grow to deliver fidelity reviews when services are required to have them. To find out more, please contact your IPS Grow Regional Lead.

Leading for Excellence: Training for IPS Supervisors
1 & 2 March 2023
Aimed at new IPS Supervisors and Team Leaders, this course will help you manage and develop IPS services.

Doing What Works: Training for Employment Specialists
16 & 17 March 2023
Aimed at new Employment Specialists, this interactive course teaches you how to support people into work using the Individual Placement and Support model.

Employer Engagement
21 March 2023
This course will provide you with a toolkit to help you feel more confident about approaching employers on behalf of your clients. You will learn how to prepare for potential meetings, what to say when you introduce yourself, how to progress meetings onto the next stage and how to manage employers’ concerns throughout the process.

In-Field Employer Engagement
This face-to-face practical training takes you out and about in your local area to practice introducing yourself and your service to employers, with mentoring and coaching support from the trainer. This training can follow our virtual Employer Engagement course where we teach all the theory, or you can undertake this practical course on its own.

Motivational Interviewing
This fun and interactive course teaches you how to re-engage people when their motivation has dropped due to barriers in returning to employment. Through demonstration and role play, you will learn advanced listening skills and develop practical skills in the application of Motivational Interviewing techniques.

HEE Commissioned IPS Team Leader Training
June 2023
This 4-day IPS Leadership training course is commissioned by Health Education England and designed for IPS Team Leaders or IPS Supervisors working in secondary mental health services.
Developed in collaboration with Centre for Mental Health, Social Finance and IPS Grow, this course focuses on the core knowledge and key skills required to establish and lead high performing IPS services.
