Last week, we got some tough news for our email program.

Since Google ended its program that helped emails from our campaign get
delivered to your primary inbox, we’ve had to dramatically scale back the
number of people we can contact.

This makes it harder for us to communicate breaking news, legislative
updates, organizing opportunities, and fundraising alerts to all of you —
so we must take matters into our own hands. That’s why we’re asking for
your help.

This problem is not unique to Google, and it’s not new. Companies like
Apple, Microsoft, and Yahoo have been driving a larger trend over the last
few years that’s made it harder and harder to make sure emails like this
are reaching supporters like you.

To be clear: We fully support giving people full control over their inbox,
privacy, and data. Trust us, if you don’t want to receive our emails, we
don’t want to send them to you.

But if you do want to make sure that you see our emails and help us have
as strong a sender reputation as possible, here’s a few steps you can
take:

 1. Make sure our emails stay where you can see them: Please take a few
steps including clicking on any link in this email ([ [link removed] ]here’s one you
can use), marking this email as important, replying to the email, and
if you use Gmail, making sure our emails are set to go to your Primary
folder.

 2. Help us get back on track: We’ve had to put a halt on many of our
email plans over the last week, including the fundraising emails we
rely on to fund our campaign, pay our staff, and run community
programs. [ [link removed] ]If you can pitch in $5 or $15, it would go a long way to
help us get back on track now that Alexandria has officially filed for
re-election.

 3. Share your thoughts: What kind of emails are most interesting and
