Senator Markey wears ‘Love Abortion’ pin to Biden’s State of the Union address (http://)
In a sick and shameful move, Irish-American politician, Senator Ed Markey from Massachusetts wore a ‘Love Abortion’ pin to President Biden’s State of the Union address on Wednesday evening.

The pin features a small heart shape in the center of the first “o” in “abortion,” implying the wearer’s strong affection for the procedure which ends the life of a defenceless unborn baby and leads to deep life-long trauma and regret for many women who undergo the procedure.

The pin Markey and some of his pro-abortion colleagues wore was produced by Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the US.

Some have described Markey’s actions as a new low in the abortion debate, but for those who have been following developments closely, particularly in recent years, they’ve noticed that many proponents of abortion do not simply look on it as a ‘last resort’ but as something good and positive in and of itself.

The Abortion Right Campaign in Ireland, you may recall, issued a press release in 2022 ‘celebrating’ the fact that 6,700 abortions occurred in Ireland in the previous year.

Our job is not to despair when we hear news like this but rather to spread the word far and wide about how extreme the pro-abortion movement has become. The negative response in recent days in the US to Senator Markey’s outrageous actions shows that pro-abortion advocates may well be pushing things too far and are starting to lose the broad middle ground politically.
Petition to DEFUND the National Women’s Council gaining momentum! ()

Sign the petition and spread the word! ([link removed])

Over 1,800 people have signed the petition in the past weeks calling for the defunding of the National Women’s Council, the taxpayer funded body leading an aggressive push at present for late-term abortion on request to be legalised.

By signing the petition below, you will be adding your voice to the call to defund the NWCI and start over with something better in its place.

It’s disgraceful the way the NWCI claims to represent ALL women, while completely brushing aside the concerns of women who regret their abortions and the majority of women who want to see alternatives to abortion promoted.

The changes we want to see happen won’t occur overnight but that shouldn’t dissuade us from getting started. Together, we must shine a light on the unfairness of what’s happening in order to bring about change.

The DEFUND petition is off to a great start. Let’s spread the word and keep the momentum going!

When you’ve signed the petition, please share the link with family and friends and encourage them to be part of the effort as well. Thanks for all your help!

PLC letter published in The Irish Times (http://)

It was great to see another letter from Eilís Mulroy of the Pro Life Campaign published in The Irish Times earlier this week.

The letter focuses on the latest evidence showing that unborn babies feel pain, possibly even as early as 12 weeks, and says that the soon to be released report of the Government’s three-year-review of the law should, among other things, recommend that humanitarian pain relief be given to unborn babies prior to late-term abortions.

Student Pro-Life Summit takes place at the end of this month (http://)
At the end of February, the annual Pro-Life Student Summit weekend takes place. It will be attended by third level students from across the country and feature lots of workshops and talks on effective ways to communicate the pro-life message, delivered by guest speakers from home and abroad. It also provides a terrific opportunity each year for like-minded students to meet one another in a relaxed and friendly setting and to plot and plan activities for the coming year. Hosting the Summit and other similar events throughout the year also serve as really important confidence building exercises, where students develop a team spirit and become a support for one another as they set forth to defend life.

If you or someone you know might be interested in attending the Weekend Summit, clear here ([link removed]) for more details.
Central Criminal Court: Man jailed for 13 years for assaulting his ex-partner and killing their unborn baby (http://)
A man who repeatedly kicked his pregnant ex-partner in the stomach was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin on Tuesday.

During the attack on his former girlfriend who was over 32 weeks pregnant, Dean Paget is heard saying "do you want the guards? I'm going to rip her out of you" in reference to their unborn baby.

In her victim impact statement before the court, Lisa Ward, mother of the unborn baby that died, said her life "will never be the same again" and added that Paget will have to live with what he did to her and her little girl.

She described her baby, named Ruby Rose, as a "beautiful little girl". "I was looking forward to bringing my baby girl into this world. She never had a chance," she said.
