"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable ... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."

- Martin Luther King Jr., 1961
Dear CRA National Partners,
Here at NCRC, when we feel overwhelmed we draw inspiration from this prophetic quote. Today, and every day, we honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s courage, sacrifice and vision for a more racially and economically just America.

However, right now these words are even more inspiring for us as we enter 2020 with two large economic justice fights on our hands. Disastrous proposed changes ([link removed][UNIQID]) to the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) were published in the Federal Register on January 7, opening a way too short 60-day commenting period.

A week later, the Trump Administration published another set of disastrous proposed changes ([link removed][UNIQID]) - this time to the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule within the Fair Housing Act (FHA). Separately, both of these proposed changes deal heavy blows to key civil rights legislation, but taken together, they showcase an administration that seems hell-bent on strengthening the ever-widening wealth gap in America.

We won't sit idly by while Trump enacts a war on the poor. We will "sacrifice" and "struggle." We will push forward with "tireless exertions" and "passionate concern." We will fight. And we will win.

Join us, and make our voice even stronger!
