Hi ,
Homelessness is the moral and humanitarian crisis of our time, but sometimes it can be hard to know how to get involved and be a part of the solution so that people living on our streets can come indoors and get back on their feet.
This week, there is one simple way you can make a difference: volunteer for the annual Homeless Count ([link removed]) .
Volunteer for the Homeless Count ([link removed])
This is a massive effort that happens every year ([link removed]) , where thousands of Angelenos come together to confront the homelessness and housing crisis, and reaffirm a fundamental truth — that every single person in this city matters, whether they have an address or not.
As a city, we’re doing everything possible to tackle this crisis head-on ([link removed]) . We’re deploying an army of outreach workers, building thousands of units of affordable and supportive housing, strengthening protections for renters, and standing up emergency shelters. But solving this crisis will take all of us.
That’s what makes the Homeless Count so important: by tallying up how many of our neighbors remain unsheltered and learning where they live, we can better dedicate our resources to serve them, support them, and build a safer, cleaner Los Angeles for all of us ([link removed]) .
But we can’t get this done without volunteers like you — people willing to dedicate one evening to count our fellow residents experiencing homelessness.
Volunteers are needed at dozens of sites throughout L.A. County on January 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
Every person counts and every volunteer makes a difference.
So on this day of service, please sign up to help at TheyCountWillYou.org ([link removed]) .
Thank you for all that you do,
Eric Garcetti
Your Mayor
