Martin Luther King Jr. would have been 91 this year. Thanks to his efforts, and the efforts of countless other civil rights activists, we've made amazing progress. And yet, decades after Dr. King's death, we are still seeing white supremacist protests, open bigotry on the part of politicians, and racist policies coming from the White House. We have come far, but the fight is far from over.



We should celebrate the legacy and achievements of Dr. King. But we should also look to his legacy as an example of how we can continue his struggle today. I believe that equality is within reach, but we must stand strong against those who want our nation divided and who promote racist ideologies if we ever want to achieve it.


I'm honored to fight for civil rights in Washington -- and to work to break down barriers, not build them up. I hope we can all stand together to further Dr. King's legacy and continue pushing for progress.
