Dear John,
2023 has just begun, and momentum for national and state ranked choice voting advocates has continued into the new year. Bills are moving in dozens of state legislatures and Congress, and there are already two ranked choice voting ballot measures coming up next month! On March 7, voters in Burlington, Vermont and Redondo Beach, California will get to vote on whether to adopt ranked choice voting!
- In Redondo Beach, Question CA5 asks whether to replace costly runoff elections with RCV and save taxpayers money.
- In Burlington, Question 4 asks whether to bring RCV to mayoral and school commission elections. (It is already used for city council.)
Every vote counts, and we never know how close the result will be until the polls have closed. It’s time to leave everything on the field! Help RCV win in Redondo Beach
Cal RCV is hosting a series of phone and text banks to reach Redondo Beach voters and let them know about the opportunity to choose better elections. You don’t need to be a Redondo Beach resident to make calls! If you want to volunteer for the broader RCV effort, Cal RCV is also holding Letter to the Editor writing parties in March and April.
Help RCV win in Burlington
If you live in Burlington, make sure to vote yes on Question 4, and bring three family members or friends to vote as well. If you don’t live in Burlington but know someone who does, now is a great time to remind them of the upcoming election!
Thank you for your support! Ranked choice voting is the fastest-growing nonpartisan voting reform in the nation because of our shared efforts. Let’s keep the momentum going – together, we’ll win adoption of RCV from coast to coast!
