Dear Friend,
?
Most of you may be following the ongoing graduate student strike at Temple University. The strike, organized by TUGSA representing 750 teaching assistants, research assistants, and instructors of record, was authorized last fall with 99% in favor after nearly a year of stagnant bargaining. Temple university refuses to raise their average pay from $19,500 per year to a modest demand of $32,000 along with affordable dependent healthcare and increased parental leave.
?
In retaliation of the strike since January 31, the university suspended tuition remission and benefits for the graduate student workers, who will only face more difficulties as the strike continues. Please support TUGSA student workers by donating to their strike fund and help gather public support.?
?
SftP will also be hosting an in-person event at 6pm on Friday, February 17 in collaboration with TUGSA and Philly DSA at the Making Worlds Bookstore & Social Center. See the flyer below, and please register here. Building up to the event, we will also be donating our merchandise proceeds to TUGSA's strike fund (details here).
?
In solidarity,
?
