Hi,

[link removed] the end of the month, we're headed to Washington D.C. for our federal lobby day. Can we take your voice with us?

Sign our petition for affordable textbooks and we'll deliver it to your elected officials! ([link removed])

We'll be holding dozens of lobby meeting with the offices of U.S. Senators and Congressmen to support a number of our legislative priorities including:
* Affordable Textbooks: Students shouldn't have to stress over the cost of their course materials. We're supporting increased federal funding for an open textbooks program in the annual Senate Appropriations bill which provides grants for universities to increase adoption of free open texbooks on campus. We helped launch the pilot program back in 2018.
* Plastic Pollution: Nothing we use for 5 minutes should pollute our oceans and communities for hundreds of years. We're working to pass the federal Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act which would hold plastic polluters accountable for the cost collecting and processing their waste.
* Right to Repair: Americans dispose of over 400,000 cell phones per day, and only 15 to 20 percent of electronic waste is recycled. We're calling for legislation that gives consumers the right to repair our electronics, rather than having to toss them in the landful and buy more of them every few years.

Each year, the Student PIRGs host a national lobby day where student leaders from across the country meet with House and Senate offices bring the voices of their peers into the halls of power and advocate for the public interest. Thank you for taking action and allowing us to bring your voice to our nation's Capitol.

Sign the affordable textbooks petition before our lobby day on February 27th! ([link removed])
