When it comes to the top issues facing Chicago voters — public safety, housing, and education — Brandon is lightyears ahead of Lightfoot.
Despite promising to invest in our neighborhood schools, reopen mental health centers, and tax the rich to fund affordable housing, Lightfoot has flip-flopped on nearly every campaign promise she’s made.1 Since becoming Mayor, she’s been at war with the Chicago Teachers Union over class sizes, COVID precautions, and teachers’ pay. And she spent much-needed federal COVID relief money on increasing police funding instead of investing in community health.
This stands in stark contrast to former public school teacher, union organizer, and current Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson, who:
-
Secured $75 million in violence prevention funding for the West Side of Chicago,
-
Passed Medicare for All legislation to provide health care coverage for 40,000 additional Cook County residents,
- And was instrumental in organizing the 2019 Chicago Teachers Union strike to increase funding for Chicago public schools.
With Lightfoot’s approval ratings hovering in the mid 20s, it’s clear that the people of Chicago are ready for change. And Brandon Johnson — whose campaign has focused on increasing funding for public schools, building more affordable housing, and moving toward a community-based approach to public safety — has just the right experience and vision to build a stronger Chicago, for all.
Will you rush a contribution of $10 to Brandon Johnson’s campaign to keep up the momentum before voters head to the polls at the end of this month? 100% of your donation will help Brandon reach voters in the final stretch.
In solidarity,
