This Congress, I will be serving on the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis and the House Appropriations Committee.
The Select Subcommittee on Coronavirus will, among other things, investigate:
- the origins of the Coronavirus, including but not limited to the Federal Government’s funding of gain-of-function research;
- fraud and abuse of taxpayer money;
- the disastrous effects of lockdowns;
- the development of the vaccine, and the implementation of vaccination mandates;
- the societal impact of decisions to close schools, and how this has affected our kids.
The Appropriations Committee has jurisdiction over much of the federal government’s spending. Therefore, I am looking forward to being in a position that allows me to take a closer look at what we are spending our money on.
The negotiations made with Speaker McCarthy at the start of the Congress included a commitment to reduce this year’s spending down to the same level that we spent in FY ‘22. It will be up to me and others on the Appropriations Committee to identify wasteful spending that needs to be cut.
Some examples of wasteful spending include:
- Pushing COVID-19 vaccination on minors contrary to existing state laws;
- Funding research to study racial aggression in mice and romance between parrots;
- Using disaster recovery money for Green New Deal objectives instead of helping people recover from disasters;
- Using funds designated to secure our border to transport migrants through the U.S. and buy hotel rooms for illegal aliens,
- Using tax payer dollars to sponsor drag shows in Ecuador; and
- Giving money to agencies to enforce critical race theory.
Congress must be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars, and it is my hope that I can serve as a voice for fiscal responsibility on the Appropriations Committee.
