Experimenters pulled Britches from his mother's side and crudely sewed his delicate eyelids shut.

Dear Friend,

On the very night he was born, experimenters pulled helpless macaque Britches from his mother's side.

They sewed his eyes shut with crude, thick thread and strapped a heavy device that made a constant screeching sound to his tiny head.

Then they locked him inside a barren wire cage—alone—with nothing to comfort him.

Britches didn't deserve this. No animal deserves this. PETA is stopping their misery—and we need you with us.

What happened to Britches should never happen to any animal. And thanks to the support of PETA members, we're closer than ever before to a world in which no animal is mutilated, force-fed drugs, or otherwise tormented before being killed in a cruel, archaic experiment.

Your 2020 membership will help keep our momentum going strong, powering work that's doing the following.

  • Persuading major pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food and beverage companies to ban cruel, worthless tests on animals: In 2019, we convinced pharmaceutical giants—including Bayer, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson—to ban forced swim tests on terrified small animals; prompted Kellogg's, Hershey, and dozens of other food and beverage companies to stop conducting or funding animal experiments to make dubious health claims about ingredients; and added household brands like Aussie, Herbal Essences, and Dove to PETA's list of cruelty-free companies.

  • Pressuring governments to take steps against animal testing: After years of pressure from PETA and our supporters, China is making strides to end animal tests for cosmetics—approving two new non-animal testing methods and making it possible for some companies to market there without ever harming animals. We also achieved a landmark victory when the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced its plans to phase out tests on mammals, a breakthrough decision that comes after the agency collaborated with PETA scientists.

  • Launching groundbreaking exposés and grassroots campaigns to achieve victories for animals trapped in laboratories: Following intense pressure from PETA, many physicians and scientists, and hundreds of thousands of activists and members like you, Texas A&M University has stopped breeding dogs to develop debilitating canine muscular dystrophy—the first step toward ending its cruel experiments. And when we learned that cables were being inserted into live cats' throats and lungs for a training course at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, we pushed the hospital to stop the painful and deadly exercises.

Thank you for all that you do to protect and defend animals from cruelty, neglect, and exploitation.
