John – My first State of the Union address in Congress was also the most pro-worker State of the Union I can remember, and I was honored to have Jeff McGillivray, a union plumber and long time labor organizer, as my guest.
With the Inflation Reduction Act's key provisions kicking in, we're going to be breaking ground on critical (and overdue) infrastructure projects around the Fourth Congressional District and the country.
That means jobs. And thanks to the labor movement, it means good jobs. And because we're finally going to follow the "Made in America" policy, we'll see even more jobs to supply all those projects.
But there's still more to do.
I agree with the President that we need to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which strengthens unions and workers' ability to negotiate for fair wages, safer workplaces, and quality, affordable health care for their families.
Fighting for workers' rights has always been a priority for me because union membership in my own family opened the doors that got me here, John, and I believe that other families should have the same opportunity.
