Black Herstory Month- The Fight for Reproductive Justice Continues

Dear John, This has been a cold, hard year for reproductive health and rights. We have seen heartbreaking rollbacks on abortion care and a wanton disregard for the health and well-being of women. But I am grateful. In the midst of such profound upheaval, I am grateful for all of you. The fight to achieve health equity in this country, and for our sisters in Africa, is not one that can be done by a brave few. It takes the courage and conviction of many to create a movement and to make change happen. Black History Month reminds us of the struggles and accomplishments of all who have come before us, and while we are in a dark period for reproductive justice, we know that we can and we will move forward. Movements are born out of collective energy. When you support SisterLove, you take a stand, not just take a position. In your actions, you demonstrate that you care about reproductive health and rights; that you care about the disproportionate number of Black women diagnosed with HIV/AIDS; that you care about having diversity and inclusion in research; that you care about health outcomes for Black mothers and their babies. As we celebrate Black History Month, I am hopeful that change is in the air. Our Healthy Love Bus will soon take to the road, bringing comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare to those who find it difficult to get the care they need. Our research includes the voices of Black women. Our advocacy efforts press for legislation that favors equality and equity in our fight for reproductive justice.
