Hi John,
Today is Giving Hearts Day, the 24-hour fundraising event for charities in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.
We are thrilled to announce an anonymous matching donor has offered $5,000 in matching gift funds made on Giving Hearts Day. Don’t miss your chance to double the impact for immigrants and refugees!
As I think back on our work in the area over the last year, one story sticks out…
On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, a new Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation was announced for Afghanistan for 18 months to protect Afghan nationals already living in the United States from returning to unsafe conditions. With so much uncertainty for those arriving in the United States, ILCM stood ready to help our new neighbors get the legal status they needed.
One Afghan family of six who had completed the immigrant visa process in Kabul were evacuated before they could have their visa stamped on their passports. The family then had an additional interview at a military base in Qatar and had received visas, yet there was a glitch during the process and their documents were not forwarded to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to produce lawful permanent resident (LPR) cards. With the help of ILCM staff, this family was able to receive their cards and has what they need to stay, thrive, and keep calling North Dakota home.
Please support ILCM today to help immigrants and refugees! Currently, ILCM is the only provider of free immigration legal services for refugees in North Dakota.
Thank you for your compassion and partnership!
With gratitude,
Veena Iyer
