Team,
Last night, President Biden gave the second State of the Union Address of his presidency. He acknowledged the work ahead to build an even stronger nation for all of us.
Since his last address to the nation, President Biden has made good on many of his promises. We are seeing the lowest unemployment rate since 1969, have made major strides in our infrastructure with the bipartisan infrastructure law, have codified same-sex and interracial marriage into law with the Marriage Equality Act, and have fought the COVID-19 pandemic.
Team, since he first ran, President Biden has promised to be the president for all Americans — regardless of who they voted for. And when he addressed the nation last night, it was clear that his promise had not changed.
He is urging Democrats and Republicans to work together for the benefit of the American people. Together, we can:
➡️ Bring manufacturing jobs BACK to the U.S. to rebuild the nation's middle class
➡️ Cut health care costs for working families by expanding the insulin price cap to ALL Americans
➡️ Codify Roe v. Wade to protect access to reproductive health care
➡️ Continue investing in climate resilience and moving America toward a clean energy future
I am proud of all that we've been able to accomplish together – but our work is not over yet.
Like many Americans, I was disheartened by the disrespect and incivility shown by my colleagues across the aisle. Now, more than ever, it's crucial that we work towards uniting Americans from all walks of life to decide our nation's future. The American people want progress — not partisan games and chaos.
Toward that end, I remain committed to working to deliver results for the American people. We’ll keep at it!
It's an honor to serve you,
Derek
