John,
Last night was pretty encouraging for us – and we don’t say that lightly.

In President Biden’s State of the Union Address he urged Congress and the nation to prioritize working families, provide paid family and medical leave; affordable child care; restore the Child Tax Credit; and expand home care services.

It’s not just exciting to see our care message reach the highest levels of government, it’s politically and culturally really important.

Nannies, housecleaners, and care workers have been left in the political shadows for way too long, and having a President publicly support the building of an economy that centers care and benefits everyone is HUGE.

Our message is spreading far and wide. Now we must all continue to work together to fight against the anti-care fringe , a small but loud minority of the population trying to convince us that our values of care, respect and dignity are somehow ‘crazy.’ We have to unite to build a culture of care so that we can create a brighter future for working people.

If you agree that now is the time for America to do everything it can to step up for working people, take action and pledge to keep fighting for a much-needed investment in care and families [[link removed]] .

Family caregivers and care workers across the country are exhausted : physically, emotionally and financially. They have had to piece together care for children, older family members and loved ones with disabilities. And, in some cases, they’ve been forced to choose between paying their bills and providing care for their loved ones.

It shouldn’t be this way.

Anti-care forces have taken our compassion and desire to treat everyone with respect and turned it into an insult. They want us to believe that care work is not real work, and that this country can’t afford to invest in a care infrastructure.

Care work makes all other work possible. And we have the resources — our priorities just need to align with our investments. To be plain: this country can’t afford not to invest in care.

An investment in the future of care will provide much-needed relief for home care workers and the families who depend on their care. To grow this care movement we have to keep educating the public and our elected leaders, and make clear that investing in the care economy is an investment in family values and can support the needs of everyone in this country.

Show us that you’re still in this fight with us by signing the pledge today [[link removed]] .

Thanks for all that you do,
