Hi Supporter,

Today the Federal Government released the findings of the Tune review into the NDIS.

(You will remember the review was carried out late last year to look at what changes to the legislation were needed to establish timeframes for key NDIS processes. It also looked at what else needed to be done to get the NDIS working better for participants and their families. If you need a refresh you can read more about the review here [[link removed]] or read our submission here [[link removed]]).

And in what will not be news to anyone here, the report found that participants and their families find the scheme too complex, too confusing, too inconsistent – and have to wait too long for everything. So Mr Tune made 29 recommendations for change.

The full report runs to 224 pages. We have had a chance to have a quick look and summarise it for you. You can check out our take on our website:

First the good news. There’s a couple of areas of concern but overall the recommendations cover stuff we have been banging on about for ages. Stuff like:

✅ seeing a draft of your plan before it is approved

✅ more help to navigate the scheme

✅ more flexibility in using your funds

✅ small changes to your plan without a full review

But – you knew there was going to be a but. Frustratingly, while the government released the report today, they did not release their response to it. What they are going to do and when they are going to do it.

That was promised “shortly”.

That’s frustrating because frankly there is not much new in this report. Same issues, same recommendations as many other reviews and reports.

It's time to just get on and sort this stuff out. Now.

That’s what we will keep fighting for – and we know you will too.

Thank you again for everything you do.
