*Legislative Campus Modernization Project Weekly Update*





WHAT'S NEW





Newhouse




Irving R. Newhouse Building

The Olympia Fire Department will be using the Newhouse Building and press houses for training exercises from Feb. 16 - 24 (excluding weekends).


* *Traffic
*No traffic impacts expected.
* *Pedestrian
*Avoid using the sidewalk directly to the west of Newhouse.
* *Noise
*None outside the building.
* *Hours 
*Weekdays from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. 
* *Parking
*Some spaces in the lot immediately behind Newhouse and near the press houses will be closed for Fire Department staging. These locations will be clearly marked. 
* *Other
*While training exercises are confined to the interior of the building, there may be times when visitors/residents will see white smoke coming from the building.  Fire trucks and ambulances will be on site for training purposes.






Pritchard




Joel M. Pritchard Building

Crews will be drilling in two locations near the Pritchard and O'Brien buildings to prepare for future hillside stabilization. To minimize campus impacts, work will take place over the weekend of Feb. 10-12.

*Setup*

Contractors will set up drilling equipment starting Friday, Feb. 10, at 5 p.m., and remain in place through the weekend by O'Brien and Pritchard. 

Drilling will take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  


* *Traffic
*Flaggers will be on-site during set-up and drilling hours. Signage will clearly identify alternate routes around the drilling sites.
* *Pedestrian
*Avoid the area throughout the weekend.
* *Noise
*Minimal noise is expected during setup. Moderate noise is expected during drilling hours at decibel levels roughly equivalent to a leaf blower or power motor.
* *Hours 
*Friday (setup): 5 p.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday (drilling): 7 a.m. - 10 p.m.
* *Parking*
12 assigned parking stalls near each drilling site will be impacted, individuals have been notified and reassigned alternate parking spaces. Cones closing off the impacted parking stalls will be placed the evening of Thursday, Feb. 9.
* *Other
*Equipment will be removed the evening of Sunday, Feb. 12.

Capitol Campus Modular Building





Construction work on the Legislative Modular Building is almost complete, with crews checking off final tasks. Members of the Senate and their staff were able to move in before the start of the 2023 legislative session.
