As President Biden said last night, “The climate crisis doesn’t care if your state is red or blue.” Republicans in Congress are unwilling to support the clean energy fight, so SEEC Members need a strong offense to make big climate gains and retake the House in 2024.
John,
Last night, SEEC’s climate achievements in 2022 were front and center in President Biden’s State of the Union address, and their real-life impacts couldn’t be more apparent.
Take a look at some of our biggest climate wins over the last two years — and his promises for reaching his climate emissions goals in the years ahead:
A record number of new jobs (most notably in the clean energy sector) that have helped our national unemployment rate fall to 3.4% — the lowest our country has seen since 1969.
New tax credits for electric vehicle and appliance purchases to incentivize people to shift to clean energy at home.
Upgrades to the electric grid to prepare for national disasters.
Removing lead pipes so everyone can have clean drinking water.
A vow to vetoany attempts to cut Inflation Reduction Act spending.
A plan to install 500K electric vehicle charging stations across the country.
A continued path forward to expand clean energy nationally.
Quadrupling corporate stock tax to hold Big Oil accountable for price gouging.
John, this is the strong climate action we need. But right now, President Biden and our SEEC Members are up against a Republican majority in the House that is set on stalling our climate action.
Our SEEC Members are fighting to continue implementing these landmark laws, ensure they’re rolled out quickly and equitably, and keep the momentum going in the path to achieving our climate goals — but they need grassroots power to get it done. If there’s one key takeaway from President Biden’s address to our nation last night, let it be this: When we prioritize our climate, our entire country does better.
Let’s keep our feet on the gas, John,
