As I sat in attendance for President Biden's State of the Union address last night, I couldn't help but think of the profound impact that a handful of close elections can have on the course of a country. President Biden spoke of the landmark policies advanced in the first two years of his administration — including COVID relief, infrastructure revitalization, a major expansion of clean energy jobs, and legislation to cap insulin prices.

None of this would have happened without the narrow majority that House Democrats held last Congress. Even though we had only a 5-vote margin, we stuck together when it counted, and we helped move our country in the right direction after the chaos of the Trump years.

It was deeply disappointing to lose our majority in November. But we held far more of our seats than the pundits expected, and now we need only 5 seats to gain back the majority.

I saw what we accomplished in our last House majority, and I know that we can achieve even greater heights if we take back the chamber in 2024.

I'll never stop fighting for more progress, but I can't do it alone — and Republicans are sure to target me again this cycle because they know my record of taking on the special interests (such as the gun lobby and Big Pharma) that fill their campaign coffers.
