Sherrod Brown - Senator from Ohio [[link removed]]
Ohio was in the spotlight last night at the State of the Union. In a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a contribution so we can, like President Biden said, restore the Dignity of Work and keep making transformative investments in our state, [[link removed]] but first, I want to share some of the highlights from the president’s speech:
BURYING THE TERM “RUST BELT” ONCE AND FOR ALL
President Biden shouted out Saria Gwin-Maye, a Cincinnati ironworker and member of Ironworkers Local 44 who is helping rebuild the Brent Spence Bridge. It’s one of many bridges that is being rebuilt thanks to investments from the bipartisan infrastructure law I supported.
“Saria said she can’t wait to be 10 stories above the Ohio River building that new bridge. God bless her. That’s pride, and that’s what else we’re building; we’re building back pride.”
- President Biden
We’re creating new jobs in people’s hometowns, and it’s not just infrastructure jobs. We’re also adding tech manufacturing jobs, like Intel’s new semiconductor factory in New Albany.
“Outside of Columbus, Intel is building a semiconductor factory on 1,000 acres -- literally a field of dreams... These jobs, where people don’t have to leave home to search for opportunity, it’s just getting started. Think about the new homes, the small businesses… that [are] going to be needed to support those 3,000 permanent jobs.”
- President Biden
TAKING CARE OF OUR VETERANS
I invited an Ohio Army veteran battling multiple lung diseases due to toxic burn pit smoke she encountered while deployed in Iraq. Together, veterans, my colleagues, and I fought for the PACT Act, which is now providing disability benefits and care for toxic-exposed veterans, including over 3 million post-9/11 combat vets.
FOCUSING ON MENTAL HEALTH
First Lady Jill Biden invited Harry Miller, a former Ohio State University football player who retired to focus on his mental health. President Biden is making strengthening mental health resources a centerpiece of his agenda.
We’re building historic progress for working people and I want to continue making Ohio a big part of that process.
I’m up for re-election next year, and I’m hoping you’ll be part of our campaign. Will you start by making a contribution of $26 -- or any amount that makes sense for you -- today? [[link removed]]
