“Free Happy and Patty. End their torture.” – Comment on a recent Instagram post [[link removed]] by the Wildlife Conservation Society, which manages the Bronx Zoo
Thanks to our amazing supporters, hundreds of thoughtful, impassioned comments were posted on the Bronx Zoo and the Wildlife Conservation Society’s social media channels last week, urging them to release Happy and Patty to an elephant sanctuary. The message was loud and clear, reaching followers of these accounts who might not be aware of the elephants’ suffering and the more just life that’s possible for them. We appreciate everyone who took the time to post comments in response to our call to action! You really showed up for Happy, Patty, and all elephants held in solitary confinement.
Now let’s build on this success and keep up the pressure. For the rest of February, please continue to leave comments on the Bronx Zoo’s most recent posts on Facebook [[link removed]] , Twitter [[link removed]] , and Instagram [[link removed]] and the Wildlife Conservation Society’s most recent posts on Facebook [[link removed]] , Twitter [[link removed]] , and Instagram [[link removed]] . Share with their audiences why the Bronx Zoo and WCS’s continued imprisonment of Happy and Patty is wrong and urge them to release these elephants to sanctuaries.
We noticed that many comments disappeared a few days after they were posted, so the Bronx Zoo and WCS may be deleting comments, restricting who can view them, or filtering out comments that use the words Happy and Patty. Even if they are doing this, it’s still important to keep up the pressure and post comments because you never know who’ll see what you wrote (before it’s deleted) and become aware of Happy and Patty’s suffering as a result.
The Bronx Zoo also appears to be filtering out comments that include #FreeHappy, so we suggest that you not include hashtags in your comments.
Not on social media? You can still help by sending an email directly to Robert Menzi, Interim President and CEO of the Wildlife Conservation Society, at

You can see some of the comments that were already posted in a video we shared on our Instagram [[link removed]] and Facebook [[link removed]] Stories. Thank you again for joining us in calling for Happy and Patty’s freedom!
