In last night’s State of the Union, President Biden spoke of the historic progress we have made delivering for the American people. From bold climate action to lower prescription drug prices, support for our veterans, and more – I’m ready to keep getting things done.
One issue that remains among my top priorities is support for Afghan refugees. That’s why I brought former Afghan interpreter Rahmat Mokhtar as my guest to last night’s address.
Over a year after thousands of Afghan families were forcibly displaced from their home, many remain in uncertain positions struggling to secure housing, work, and education.
It’s time to fulfill our obligation to provide stability to our Afghan partners through temporary humanitarian status and access to other critical resources. Add your name to join me in calling on Congress to provide this long-awaited support!
I also had the pleasure of speaking with CNN's Jake Tapper about the importance of passing legislation to support Afghan refugees.
Check out the clip here:
We simply would not be where we are today without the strength and resilience of our Afghan partners during the 20-year conflict.
Now, we must honor our promises and create a path to permanent legal status for the Afghan heroes who risked their lives and fought alongside U.S. forces, and help refugee families to rebuild their lives.
As an original cosponsor of bipartisan legislation to provide critical support for vulnerable Afghan families, I’m calling for swift action to get this done in the new Congress. We cannot delay this any further – add your name in support right away.
Thanks for all you do.
