Hey there --
We're thrilled about what President Biden said in the State of the Union last night.
Biden called out social media platforms for their harm to young people’s mental health. He said, “We must hold social media platforms accountable for the national experiment they’re conducting on our children for profit."
And he did not stop there…
President Biden urged Congress to “pass the bipartisan legislation to strengthen antitrust enforcement and prevent big online platforms from giving their own products an unfair advantage.”
And lastly…
He called on Congress to “pass bipartisan legislation to stop Big Tech from collecting personal data on kids and teenagers online, ban targeted advertising to children, and impose stricter limits on the personal data these companies collect on all of us.” The line received a standing ovation from both Democrats and Republicans in the chamber.
Friend, we want to hear what you’re thinking: What should Congress' biggest priority be?
A ban on surveillance advertising
Antitrust legislation
Stricter rules on data collection
We applaud President Biden for recognizing the truth that Big Tech companies continue to deny and deflect: their products and platforms harm kids, teens, young adults – and society on the whole.
This is a huge moment for the movement to rein in Big Tech.
Let's get to it,
